This French resort is the furthest south of Chamonix's ski regions and is well known for being family-friendly and ideal for beginners. Flaine Ski Resort

Flaine is a purpose-built ski resort nestled in the Haute-Savoie region, bordering the popular Portes du Soleil area. It blends architecture, art and nature in a snow-sure setting that offers convenient access to and from the slopes. This ski resort is made up mainly of large apartment buildings which are perfect for groups, along with many well-priced bars, eateries and shops. 

Flaine has plenty of great skiing too, with idyllic wooded piste runs and access to the larger Grand Massif ski area. This affordable ‘designer’ resort is known as the "big snowy bowl" due to it having one of the best snow records in the Alps!

Saint Lary synthesizes life in the mountains and the stunning Pyrenean scenery. Although the French Pyrenees can’t compete with the Alps in terms of size, they’re a lot more affordable. St-Lary-Soulan is the largest resort in this area, with 100km of slopes that suit intermediates and beginners best and with ski lifts as high as 2,515m, skiing and snowboarding are guarenteed throughout the season.
